We have a range of jobs on our books from vacancies for recently qualified nursery nurses to senior management posts. 

At JEM Childcare as a candidate you are personally interviewed, we will discuss your childcare qualifications and experience to assess your suitability for the positions applied for.   We will require two references to substantiate your background and authenticity.   CRB enhanced disclosure and first aid qualifications are essential.

Positions for families

A nanny is a professional, qualified and/or experienced child carer. They are responsible for the care and development of your children and are employed either on a live-in basis or as a live-out daily nanny, full or part-time. 

Live In Nannies normally work an 11-12 hour day, Monday to Friday, together with 2 nights babysitting included, and Live Out Nannies normally work a 10 hour day, Monday to Friday. They only do babysitting if this is agreed in advance and is paid on top. Their responsibilities can include the following:

  • Work with the parents regarding maintaining and enhancing the routine of the children.
  • Provide safe, stimulating and developmental activities for your children to learn and have fun.
  • Plan and cook nutritional balanced meals.
  • Carry out domestic chores connected with the children e.g. keep the nursery, bedrooms clean and tidy, children's washing and ironing

NANNY SHARE
There are two types of Nanny Share

  • The first is a nanny who works for two families. The families share the cost of employing the nanny, and agree on the terms of her contract together.
  • The second is an experienced or qualified nanny who has a child of her own, but would like to continue nannying, so will take her own child to her employer’s house.

NANNY / HOUSEKEEPER

A nanny as above but generally employed where children are of school age and would undertake the tasks above along with general household duties.

BABYSITTER

Babysitters who are normally experienced childcarers will come to your house in the evening; you may wish them to put your children to bed, and then sit with them until you return home.
If you are slightly uneasy at the prospect of leaving your child with a new sitter, it is possible for you to speak to them first and also to check their references upon request, as with anyone that JEM Childcare provides you with.

AREA MANAGER

An Area Manager is responsible for managing a cohort of nurseries within the Nursery group, ensuring that their nurseries meet the occupancy and revenue targets, together with supporting the manager to deliver best possible standards of care and education. In addition, ensuring that the Manager generates revenue through maintaining occupancy and managing the day to day financial operations of a nursery, by working within an agreed budget.

MANAGER

The Nursery Manager is responsible for ensuring the nursery provides the best possible standards of care and education; ensuring the environment is safe and secure, where the children are valued as individuals. The Manager is also responsible for the day to day financial operations of a nursery working within the agreed budget, to meet the occupancy and revenue targets set and manage all operating costs to ensure the continued profitability of the nursery

DEPUTY MANAGER

A Deputy Manager is responsible for day to day running of the nursery in the absence of the manager. Normally manages a base room, ensuring that all daily routines are adhered to and that records are kept up to date. Works alongside the Manager ensuring that the Nursery operates within the parameters of the Nursery Provider and Ofsted.

ROOM MANAGER

A Room Manager is responsible for ensuring the room/group provides the best possible standards of care and education; ensuring the environment is safe and secure, where the children are valued as individuals. They will ensure that the children have access to learning opportunities reflective of their age and ability by planning according to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The post also requires responsibility for leading the team in the room

NURSERY NURSE

A Nursery Nurse assists the Room Manager in managing base room activities, ensuring that all daily routines are adhered to and that all key work children's development records are updated and maintained, ensuring the environment is safe and secure, where the children are valued as individuals. Ensures that operational procedures and policies are fully understood and consistently followed. Actively contributes and participates as part of the team, attending team meetings and activities. Ensure that the children have access to learning opportunities reflective of their age and ability by planning according to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

NURSERY ASSISTANT

A Trainee Nursery Nurse working within a nursery team to gain experience whilst taking childcare qualification. Usually working alongside the Nursery Nurse ensures that all daily routines are adhered to, ensuring the environment is safe and secure, where the children are valued as individuals. Ensures that operational procedures and policies are fully understood and consistently followed. Actively contributes and participates as part of the team, attending team meetings and activities. Ensure that the children have access to learning opportunities reflective of their age and ability by planning according to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
